K.I. SAWYER, Mich. (WLUC) – People in K.I. Sawyer had a chance to learn about gardening Thursday.
Steve Finley from Gwinn Food System visited the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center for a Seeds and Soil Workshop. He talked about which seeds you’ll want to plant in the upcoming growing season, how to prepare your soil for them and how to best set your garden up for success.
He says gardening in the U.P. is tough but not impossible.
“We can grow successfully in the U.P.,” said Finley. “We can do a marvelous job of building soil and we can affect those in need of food positively in the U.P. That’s what we’re all about.”
Gwinn Food System is hosting another workshop about creating resilience in your garden during weather extremes Apr. 26 at 1 p.m. at Gwinn Community Church.
