GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A fundraiser was held today to help raise money for a local food pantry.
The 12th annual Stone Soup Fundraiser was held to benefit St. Paul’s food pantry off 4th Street.
Today’s event ran from 11 a.m. til 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church parish hall. Local chefs and restaurants donated meals today.
For $10 you could get a serving of soup prepared by a local chef along with salad, bread and desert.
For $15 you could get a one of of a kind pottery bowl and $25 soup and bowl made by a local artisan.
“Through this fundraiser, we are able to feed hungry people every single week.” Ann Whichard, Stone Soup Fundraiser co-chair said. “It amounts to sometimes 400 to 500 people who benefit each week from our food we are able to donate.”
Each donation today goes towards buying groceries for a food-insecure family in the area.
This year’s event brought out 70 volunteers, more than 15 resteraunts and contributions from more than 150 businesses.
