
A major retailer has voluntarily recalled thousands of baby food products.
This baby food reportedly had elevated levels of lead.
According to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Target pulled about 25,600 units of its 4-ounce Good & Gather baby food products on March 12. The flavor — which is sold at Targets across the country — that was specifically affected is Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Purée.
The FDA has labeled this recall as a Class II risk. The administration explains that this designation is “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
“At Target, we’re committed to providing safe, high-quality products for our guests,” Target told USA Today via statement. “We require our suppliers to comply with all applicable food safety standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
“This recall involved a limited amount of product, which we took immediate action to remove from our shelves.”
The affected products are those bearing the lot number “4169” and a best buy date of “Dec 09 2025,” as well as the lot number “4167” and the best by of “Dec 07 2025.” The product UPC code is “UPC 1 91907-993141.”
USA Today confirms that the baby food is no longer in circulation. No illnesses have been reported as a result of the contamination as of the publishing of the report.
