Wake Forest is hosting a three-day “We Play Together: Music & Gaming” event from April 17 to 19, positioning the University at the forefront of a growing academic area that recognizes the rich connections between music, gaming, and broader cultural trends.

“We Play Together: Music & Gaming” featured guests include:

  • Inon Zur, Emmy award-winning composer with more than 80 original musical scores for video games including “Dragon Age,” “Fallout,” “Prince of Persia” and “Starfield.”
  • Pete Hines, former senior vice president of Bethesda Softworks who led the company for more than two decades and
  • Dan Tani, retired NASA astronaut and American engineer who conducted the 100th spacewalk on the International Space Station.

Career panel discussions, performances of music from “Starfield” and “Fallout,” and an Esports LAN event are highlights on the schedule. Details can be found on the Wake The Arts website.

“Gaming music is bridging the gap between generations,” said Wake Forest University professor, symphony orchestra director and avid gamer J. Aaron Hardwick, who organized the event. “The influence of the gaming industry and its music is truly global. It’s everywhere, and it’s only growing,”

All are welcome.
