Moab Rotary Car Show returns for 33rd year at Swanny Park.

The 33rd annual Moab Rotary Car Show will return to Swanny Park April 25–27, bringing hundreds of classic cars, food vendors and car enthusiasts to downtown Moab for a free community event that also serves as a local fundraiser.

Funds raised through sponsorships and car registration help support the Moab Rotary Club’s service initiatives and local nonprofits. Businesses interested in sponsoring the event can contact Dave Bierschied at 435-260-1968 or Britta Kingsley at 727-656-3633.

Organized by the Rotary Club, the three-day show typically draws between 250 and 400 vehicles from Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and beyond. In recent years, the event has attracted thousands of spectators, according to Bierschied, who is the Moab Rotary Club chair and helps organize the event.

“It’s many thousands, if not 10,000 people,” he said. “It gives tourists and really anyone a chance to experience something they’re not going to get any other time of the year.”

The weekend kicks off Friday, April 25, with an optional “Rod Run” — a free group drive for registered participants — to Ray’s Tavern in Green River. Participants should meet at the southeast corner of Swanny Park at 9:30 a.m. and be prepared to leave by 10. On Friday, there will also be onsite vehicle registration from noon to 4 p.m.

Saturday is the main event, with cars entering the park starting at 8 a.m. Judging will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 3. A second Rod Run is scheduled for Sunday, with participants departing Swanny Park at 10 a.m. for Red Cliffs Lodge.

Food vendors will be on site throughout the weekend, and music will be provided by JC Hackett Rock N Roll Radio. Due to city ordinance, dogs, smoking and shade structures are not permitted in the park.

Car registration is available online for $35, or on-site for $45. Volunteers will assist with check-in on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

Bierschied said the show maintains a laid-back, welcoming feel for all involved.

“We’re just Rotarians raising money for the community,” he said. “It’s a fun event, and we’re very casual when it comes to where people park and what they do.”

One of the weekend’s most anticipated traditions is “dragging Main” — when car owners cruise up and down Moab’s Main Street while crowds gather along the sidewalks to watch.

“Everybody lives for dragging Main,” Bierschied said.
