WASHINGTON (7News) — If you’re on spring break right now and your kid is vegging out and it irks you It’s okay.
7News’ Adrianna Hopkins spoke with Dr. Miryam Kiderman, a Children’s National Hospital psychologist, who put “rest” into perspective. She said oftentimes we underestimate our kids’ stress, and the goals we might have for them, might not be goals they have, so communication is important.
She offered this perspective on rest:
“Rest is really, really productive. I think that sometimes we get caught up feeling like we just need to constantly be creating and producing and meeting goals,” she said. “And so it is really important for parents and kids alike to think of rest and think of creative activity, or just enjoying oneself as a productive activity and as a goal.”
