WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – As Wilmington’s stature as a food destination continues to grow, so too do the opportunities to enjoy the best food and drink the area has to offer. While new restaurants continue to open, specialized, high-quality events offer a different route to partake in the bustling culinary scene.
One of those events is the “Cape Fear Wine and Food Experience,” hosted by Beacon Education and benefitting the Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington (GLOW) and Spark Academy. For years, celebrity chefs have visited the area for different events, all to help raise money for Beacon Education and its worthy endeavors. Now for the second year running, food and wine aficionados can bask in the glow (no pun intended) of the “Cape Fear Wine and Food Experience.”
Starting on Thursday, May 8, the first events include community dinners. These will be held at restaurants ranging from manna, to Covey and Ceviche’s, with the restaurants paired with a winemaker. As you can imagine, the two will collaborate to create unique dishes, ranging from three to five courses, that you won’t want to miss.
The “Cape Fear Wine and Food Experience” wraps up on Saturday, May 10, with the “Grand Tasting and Grand Auction.” Held at GLOW’s beautiful campus (if you haven’t been, it’s jaw-dropping), the “Grand Tasting” will feature culinary creations and memorable wines, with live entertainment and a number of silent auction items.
If you haven’t been to one of Beacon’s food events and fundraisers before, you can be confident that your ticket purchases and donations will go back to helping the children of our community. The “Cape Fear Wine and Food Experience” serves as a fundraiser for GLOW Academy and Spark Academy, both of which offer exceptional education opportunities. Remember, you can go and have a wonderful dinner at plenty of places around town, or you can have a meaningful food and wine experience, and help nurture the future of Southeastern North Carolina in the process.
