Fans are running to the aid of former “Man vs. Food” show host Adam Richman.
The star sparked great concern after posting something on Instagram that many considered concerning.
As a result, he’s now assuring fans that he’s alright and is now apologizing for “scaring anyone.”
It all started when Richman, 50, took to Instagram to post a mysterious, lengthy note on April 10 that many thought was a goodbye letter.
The original post read, “Thank you all for the support you have given & the chance to live out my dreams to uplift so many others through the shows that I make, and to tell their stories,” the star wrote. “I’m not perfect, never claimed to be. I’ve always tried my best and tried to lead with love.”
“I’m rooting for all of you & appreciate every last one of you. With Love & Respect, Adam,” he concluded.
Richman also went as far as to include a cryptic photo of himself with his hands folded while sitting alone, surrounded by empty seats in an unnamed soccer stadium.
Seeing this, fans flocked to the comment section of the post to inquire about his well-being.
“Is there anyone that can physically check on @adamrichman ??” one user wrote.
“I’m always here if you need me my friend love you, my brother,” another user commented.
“You okay??? You’re an amazing fella!” another commented.
“I don’t know the context of this but I hope that you are OK?” another user wrote. “We’ve never met, but I’m a big fan and followed MvF from the start. If I’ve read the room wrong, I apologize for being too serious.”
Initially, Richman seemed unaware of how his post came across because hours after the cryptic message was shared, the star took to Instagram once more and updated the post.
“Thank you for all of your concern everyone,” Richman wrote. “I’m fine. It was a post of just honesty & gratitude after praying last night. I am sorry if I scared anyone.”
He further provided clarity by posting a video on Instagram that same day in reaction to everyone’s alarming responses.
Richman opened up and shared that his father went to the hospital for a “routine surgery” when he was 52 and “never came out.” Ever since then, the painful memory left Richman with a fear of surgeries and hospitals.
“These injuries are maybe a little bit of a result of me feeling my own age,” he admitted. “I’m scared. I’m super scared out of my mind, and a bit sad.
“I know nowadays, everyone’s trying to be a sigma, no one wants to admit any kind of fear, but I’m scared.”
Richman then further explained the mysterious Instagram post as he later thanked fans while visibly getting emotional.
“I prayed last night, and what came through very clearly to me after prayer was just that I should just put out a lot of gratitude and a bit of humility,” he said. “And that’s all I was trying to communicate because the bottom line is that I work at the pleasure of the people that enjoy my shows, that enjoy me as a host or whatever that is.
“And I just needed to tell you all how much I love you, and as scared as I am — and I’m so sorry if I scared anybody else — the concern and the love that I got from you guys over the past seven hours, just has meant the world, has galvanized me and given me more strength than I had on my own.”
Richman shared gratitude for fans once more.
“A lot of people out there have it a whole lot worse than I do. But thank you from the bottom of my heart for your concern,” he said. “Maybe throw up a prayer for your boy. I love you all, and I’ll see you on the other side.”
Fans once again flocked to the comment section and shared kind words in support of the food star.
“You are so loved. Thank you for being brave enough to be vulnerable with your fans and so many others who love you. Your fear is totally understandable, and we’ll all be here when you’re out of surgeries ready to continue to root for you,” one fan wrote.
“You got this mang! Prayers and positivity your way,” comedian David So commented.
