Crystal Palace news: Fan views on Will Hughes’ new contract

We asked for your views on Crystal Palace midfielder Will Hughes signing a new contract until the summer of 2027 and whether it was the right by decision by the club.

Josh: A few years ago, we would have huffed and puffed with him staying at the club, but now he’s one of our best midfielders and probably undroppable. Very happy he’s staying.

George: Great to see Will Hughes extend his contract. He has been outstanding this season and is an unsung hero. He keeps the midfield safe while the creative players do their stuff.

Ray: Hughes is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League. Could so easily have played at international level, but by never playing for a top-six club, he was never going to get a chance.

Theo: Great for us. Powerhouse in midfield and Palace cult hero! So glad he put the pen to paper for another two years.

Paul: Hughes has turned into a solid pro and his work rate is phenomenal. Last of the old school tacklers which gets him booked bit too often – but it’s a contact sport, so come on! Very happy he has committed for a few more years as we love him at Palace.

Nick: He’s become essential to our midfield. You know if it needs shaking up, Hughes is the man to do it. Glad he has a new contract.

Steve: Great news. He has been good since he joined, but in the last 12-18 months he has gone up a level or two, especially in transition.
