Medway Public Schools hires new director finance. When he starts his new role

MEDWAY — Patrick McIntyre has been named director of finance and operations for Medway Public Schools, according to a community announcement.

McIntyre, currently business manager for Acushnet Public Schools, starts on July 1.

“I am truly honored and excited to join Medway Public Schools as director of finance and operations,” McIntyre said in a prepared statement. “Medway’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, supporting its students, and engaging the community aligns directly with my values, and I look forward to being a part of this incredible team led by Superintendent (Armand) Pires.”

In his current role, McIntyre manages Acushnet’s annual budget, oversees expenditures and ensures compliance with financial regulations, according to the announcement.

“I am eager to work alongside the administration, staff, and community to help ensure that we continue to provide a high-quality education while effectively managing resources for the benefit of all students,” he said.

McIntyre has a background in public accounting and has worked extensively with nonprofit organizations, according to the announcement. His expertise includes budgeting, financial risk assessment, audit preparation, managing procurement processes, overseeing payroll and accounting staff and ensuring the smooth operation of district services such as transportation, food services, and maintenance and custodial functions.

Academic and professional credentials

He holds a master of science in accounting from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business and a bachelor of arts in accounting with a minor in economics from Assumption College (now Assumption University). He is a certified Massachusetts school business administrator and holds the Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official designation.

Outside work, McIntyre enjoys spending time with his wife, Kimberly, and their four children. He follows New England sports teams and enjoys playing soccer, cooking and visiting his hometown, Marshfield, to enjoy the beach.

“I have full confidence that Patrick McIntyre is a perfect fit for the district’s next director of finance and operations,” Pires said in a statement. “His stellar reputation and past experience will help the district maintain its high standards of financial responsibility and help shepherd the district into the future with his sound financial stewardship.”
