NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A pet food company is voluntarily recalling some of its food due to salmonella and listeria contamination, the USFDA said.
Blue Ridge Beef said it is recalling the following:
- 1,080 lbs. of their 2 lb logs of Kitten Mix Lot # N26 0114
- 1,380 lbs of their 2 lb logs of Puppy Mix Lot # N25 1230
The products were distributed between Jan. 3, 2025, and Jan. 24, 2025, and were sold in nine states, including Tennessee.
Due to a customer complaint of animal illness, Blue Ridge collected samples on March 20, 2025. On April 1, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets the products tested positive for salmonella and listeria.
Customers who purchased the products are urged to return them to the place and or destroy the food so children, pets and wildlife cannot access it.
“Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups, and storage containers. Always ensure you wash and sanitize your hands after handling recalled food or any utensils that come in contact with recalled food,” The USFDA said. “For more information email [email protected] or call 704-873-2072 Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST.”
Four months ago, in December, Blue Ridge Beef had another recall involving its puppy mix.
The FDA said the problem was discovered when a customer’s litter of puppies got sick and reported the issue to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
