Meridian Parks and Rec hosts Kids Fishing Rodeo at Q.V. Sykes Park

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Meridian Parks and Recreation held its annual Kids Fishing Rodeo today at Q.V. Sykes Park.

Parks and Rec stocked the lake with over 750 pounds of catfish for this event.

Kids ages 5 through 17 were invited to bring their own poles and bait and come catch as many fish as they could, with prizes given out for the biggest fish caught and the most fish caught.

Participants in the rodeo said it was a great day for the event and a lot of fun to be down by the water.

“I had a great time here, catching multiple fish, at least 5 or 6, just had a great time. Thankful to be here, just to have fun, it’s free to come and I had a nice time really,” said Aiden Heiser, who participated in the rodeo.

Everyone was invited to fish after the kids fishing rodeo ended at 11am.
