SAN ANTONIO – Kids born with heart conditions got to spend an exciting day at University Health’s Heart Camp on Saturday.
The camp, open to kids ages 9 to 17 with congenital heart problems, featured zip lines, master archery, as well as arts and crafts. Kids also got to enjoy traditional camp activities like roasting marshmallows and making s’mores around the campfire.
Heart specialists and trained counselors were on hand to respond to medical concerns.
“Sometimes our congenital heart children feel different. At this camp, they’ll meet other kids who’ve had similar experiences. It’s incredibly reassuring for them to know they’re not alone,” said Dr. Ginnie Abarbanell, Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at University Health’s Pediatric Heart Center.
