Hundreds of kids gather for Helicopter Easter Egg Drop in Robinson

ROBINSON, Texas (KWTX) – To kick off Easter celebrations a bit early, the First Methodist Church of Waco invited everyone in the community to be a part of a tradition they have had for three years.

The McLennan County Sheriff’s Department used one of their helicopters to drop 8 thousand eggs on a field for excited kids, as hundreds of kids later ran to collect as many easter eggs as they could.

Over 750 kids signed up to participate this year, the biggest turnout they have had, and the staff with the church say the egg drop and hunt allows them to meet new members of the community and share the easter message.

Event coordinator Sara Meg Griego says the unique egg hunt brings new faces into their church community every year.

“We’re really thankful for the families that attend church with us every Sunday, but there are oodles of more people out here that we don’t know… so that is part of why it is so fun to see faces at an event like this, so that we can tell them who we are and more importantly who Jesus is,” Griego said.
