Crowds gather for cops, cars, and crawfish event in Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Crowds were out in force at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, not for a race, though.

They were there for the third annual cops, cars, and crawfish.

Each year the sheriff’s office holds a cookout and car show featuring some of the sheriff’s office’s resources.

Admission to the event was free, but food prices range from 10 dollars for hamburger and hot dog plates and 20 dollars for crawfish plates.

Sheriff Chip Simmons says the proceeds from the event go to a good cause.

“It’s a fundraiser for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Foundation. Which as many know already allows us to do things in our community,” Simmons said. “Like engagement, the men’s and women’s Blazer Academy, Dream Big, and movies nights without using general fund dollars. So the general fund dollars can continue to be used for the boots on the street to answer our calls for service.”

The car show also featured local new and vintage cars with awards being handed out at the end of the day.

The sheriff’s office brought their big movie screen to play car related movies as well.
