UWL Kids College

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — Kids from rural areas around the Coulee Region experienced college life for a day.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse hosted a Kids College event in the Student Union’s Bluff Rooms.

The event aims to introduce younger kids to college experiences. Organizers partnered with rural schools in the area to provide this unique opportunity for their students.

Youth Program Specialist KJ Krzyzanowski said, “A lot of these rural school districts, they might not have — for example, an ASL course.” Krzyzanowski added, “Today we’re going to have a course where students can learn some of the basics of American Sign Language. So, just something different — something new that they’ve never done before. I would love students to be able to experience that.

Organizers of the program have expressed a desire to expand this opportunity to more local children and partner with other universities to help put on this program. If you’re interested in volunteering, you can reach out to KJ at this email: [email protected].
