Fundraiser raises money for ‘First Tee’- non-profit teaching kids golf and life skills

Drumlin’s Country Club hosted a fundraiser for ‘First Tee’ on Friday night.

‘First Tee’ is a national non-profit teaching children golf, but also life skills. The program emphasizes teaching children about adversity and resilience. Overall, the goal is to shape these children into better adults.

Daria Webber, program director of ‘First Tee’, said, “We do teach them golf. More importantly, we’re more of a youth development program.”

The teachers focus on teaching life skills like resilience and self-confidence.

Robert Dixon, head coach, described it as, “It’s also trying to make you a better person.”

All children from the district are welcome at this non-profit.

The money raised from Friday night is all going right back into the program for the children. This was the 18th fundraiser to raise money.
