Sea Otter Classic and Pebble Beach Food and Wine draw crowds

People are traveling from all over the country and even internationally for this weekend’s big events, the Sea Otter Classic at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and Pebble Beach Food and Wine, which both kicked off today, causing traffic delays on Highway 68.These big events have people excited to visit the Central Coast. Businesses report that they have been busy since yesterday.Alvarado Street in Monterey thrives during this time of the year. Rosine’s is a popular destination spot for those with a big appetite, especially for Sea Otter Classic athletes looking for those extra calories.”People like to carb load and pastas, they come here for that,” said John Culcasi, owner of Rosine’s.Down the street, another popular eatery is gearing up for a busy weekend.”We’ve had a pretty good influx of people beginning, I think, yesterday. I’ve had customers from the Netherlands that are going to be a part of the Sea Otter bicycle race. I’ve had people from South Africa,” said Abdallah Manaseer, co-owner of Manaseer Crepes.Other visitors are here for the very elite Pebble Beach Food and Wine event.”Definitely trying a lot of the big champagnes, a lot of the big champagne producers are out here,” said Zohna Jones, a traveler from New Jersey.”I’m definitely looking forward to some amazing food, some amazing wine,” said Alyia, a traveler from Houston.Cyclists are excited to see old friends.”I’m just looking forward to hanging out with people and again seeing people I haven’t seen and maybe winning some races,” said Jack Neff, a Sea Otter Classic competitor.Others are here just to take it all in.”We’re visiting the race. It’s really cool for me and looking for some cool brands,” said Sabrina Shu, a traveler from Taiwan.Prepare for traffic delays if you’re on the peninsula or driving Highway 68, as traffic will be impacted.
