The annual family-friendly finned freak out known as ‘FishStock’ falls on Weds., April 16, at Green Lakes State Park, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The popular event is free but the Food Bank or CNY will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items. The Food Bank is currently facing a shortage of two million pounds of food amid Trump budget cuts.
Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery will supply 1,800 yearling rainbow trout fresh from its ponds. Kids can ‘adopt’ a trout and release it into Green Lake.
Only kids with a wrist band, and accompanied by an adult, will have a chance to stock a trout. Wrist bands will be given out first come, first serve.
Buckets will be provided for transferring trout to the lake. Don’t bring your own bucket for this purpose.
No fishing will be allowed at the northwest (beach) end of Green Lake during the event.
There will also be food trucks, craft activities, backyard bass fishing on the beach, a fish ID station, a NY State Parks information tent, and even an arborist from the Town of Manlius Tree Commission who will happily answer all your tree-hugging-related questions.
