Worcester man killed last year cherished his children, who were ‘his whole reason for being’

A Worcester man who was killed last year in a double-shooting with his mother was remembered by his family for loving his children and taking them to the zoo, his obituary read.

Evan Landry and his mother, Tracy Landry, were killed in their home at Tatnuck Square Apartments on Nov. 21, 2024. His mother was pronounced dead at the scene while he was hospitalized, but died shortly after.

One man has been charged and two men face charges in connection with the fatal shooting.

Like his mother, Evan Landry was born in Lynn, his family wrote. He was born on June 11, 1993, and graduated from North High School in Worcester.

Evan Landry had two children, his daughter Faithlyani Sophia Landry with her mother Leanesa Santos-Flores; and his son Ashton Evan Landry with his mother Lisbeth Morales, the obituary stated.

“Evan cherished nothing more in life than his children, they were his whole reason for being,” his family wrote. “He enjoyed taking them out to the park, zoo, amusement parks or anywhere he could think of. He loved spending as much time as he could with them.”

Evan Landry is survived by his sister Patricia Landry and his brother Kenneth Benson, as well as several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

His funeral service was held at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester on Dec. 5, 2024, after calling hours at the Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel in Worcester.
