Why the Y: Greater Scranton YMCA to host Healthy Kids Day

The Greater Scranton YMCA is hosting the Y’s annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m., located at 706 N. Blakely St. in Dunmore. This free, annual event features a variety of family-friendly activities to encourage healthy kids, healthy families and a healthy start to the summer season.

Sponsored nationally by Peanuts, Healthy Kids Day’s mission is to prepare families in our community for a safe, healthy and fun summer. Some featured activities include a one-milefamily fun walk at 10 a.m., rides, vendor fair, bounce houses, face painting, entertainment, refreshments and more. Registration for the family fun walk is not required.

Locally, Healthy Kids Day is sponsored thus far by Air Excellence, Scartelli Construction, Community Bank, NET Credit Union, Matrix, Precor, Cal Mal Vending Services, TOPP Business Solutions, Brucelli Advertising and Rainey & Rainey CPAs.

Summer is a time for kids to explore and expand the limits of their imagination. At Y summer day camp, every day is a new adventure! While you’re at Healthy Kids Day, you can learn more about the Y’s Summer Day Camp. The 2025 Summer Day Camp season kicks off on June 9 and runs through Aug. 22. Registration is open.
