Ruben Amorim has confirmed that centre-half Matthijs de Ligt, who picked up an injury against Nottingham Forest, and midfielder Toby Collyer will miss today’s first leg.
“Matta has a problem in his foot, we are trying to assess. We still don’t have the data that he can return,” he said in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday. “Toby has a small issue in his leg so we hope to have him in a few weeks.”
Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, however, has been named in the matchday squad alongside Luke Shaw, who has recently returned from injury. Academy players Jaydan Kamason, Godwill Kukonki and Jack Moorhouse have also travelled to France.
Centre-backs Lisandro Martinez (knee), Jonny Evans (back), Ayden Heaven (ankle), and winger Amad (ankle) are longer-term absentees.
