Seeds of Hope growing, donating vegetables to food pantries for 4th year

COVINGTON COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – It’s planting season for a Covington County non-profit that grows vegetables and gives them to area food pantries.

The folks with Seeds of Hope recently planted potatoes and will shortly begin planting corn on about ten acres of donated land.

The organization will harvest the crops in late June and donate them to about one dozen food pantries in South Mississippi.

“The need is actually growing in a lot of places, and we have seen that through the inflation and everything around that the need has went up in several places and we just want to continue to help people and offer this at no cost,” said Cole Rogers, board chairman for Seeds of Hope.

Rogers says his organization will need volunteer help to harvest all the crops.

You can find out more about that by going to the Facebook page for Seeds of Hope or by logging onto seedsofhopems.org.
