Saginaw YMCA to host youth sports clinics during Family Fun Day

SAGINAW, MI — The Saginaw YMCA is inviting families to a day of sports, learning and community fun with its Family Fun Day.

The Family Fun Day is taking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at 1915 Fordney St., in Saginaw.

The event offers a range of activities for kids and adults, including youth clinics, interactive exhibits and opportunities to learn more about the YMCA’s summer programs.

Youth sports clinics aimed at students in 5th through 8th grade will be held for $5 per child, per clinic.

Participants will receive hands-on training from experienced coaches in both football and basketball.

The boys football clinic will be led by Ron Stanley, who won a Super Bowl ring with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2006, and Brian Pruitt, who became Central Michigan University’s first Associated Press All-American when he led them to the Mid-American Conference title in 1994.

The boys and girls basketball clinics will be led by Julian Taylor, former coach for Saginaw High School and the first boys basketball head coach at Saginaw United High School, and Eugene Seals Jr., member of Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame and CEO of Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce.

Registration for the clinics is available at SaginawYMCA.org. Spots are expected to fill quickly.

In addition to the clinics, the event will feature a variety of attractions, including local vendors, STEM Zone and games.

Families can also learn about YMCA summer camps, including overnight options at Camp Timbers.

Representatives will be available to answer questions and help with registration for the upcoming summer season.
