Local chefs set to battle it out in new Brazos Valley Food Bank cooking competition

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -Get ready for an evening of culinary creativity as talented local chefs compete for your entertainment to help the Brazos Valley Food Bank.

Blake Zeitman from Zeitman’s Grocery and Deli, Tanner Purdum from The Wild Garlic and Irma Barrera with Taquero Moocho will battle it out in the kitchen, transforming food items regularly found in the Brazos Valley Food Bank warehouse into gourmet dishes.

The chefs will be showcasing their creativity live under pressure!

Amanda Stark with the food bank said this competition was two years in the making, and she’s excited to see it come to life.

“We’re hoping that it’s going to be an annual competition now,” Stark said. “Three local chefs, three local celebrity judges, 30 minutes to compete, so it should be really fun.”

Local celebrity judges will crown the winner, and you have the chance to get involved!

The public can vote for their favorite chef by making a donation to the Brazos Valley Food Bank here.

The Pantry to Plate Chef Challenge is April 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the TAMU Hotel and Conference Center.
