WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) – Troop 419 is one of multiple scout troops trying to collect food from locals to donate.
All around Wausau troops were going door to door, putting hangers on houses. The hangers provide information on how locals can help donate food for local pantries.
Sophie Belongia, The Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 419 said, “It’s nice, it’s forgiving to know that we are doing something good, doing something good for the community. It’s helpful on my conscience. Then it helps with service hours so that helps with our kids get their eagles, helps them rank up, helps them get merit badges. All different sorts of stuff like that.”
In a week, the troops will go back around the city and collect the food that people leave out. The donations will all be sent to salvation army.
