“Cruise for Kam” honors memory of two-year-old boy in York County

The second annual event raised money for Olivia’s House in York.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A car show in York on Sunday helped raise money to assist grieving families, as well as keep the memory of a young boy alive.

The second annual “Cruise for Kam” was held at Sunset Park in West Manchester Township to honor the memory of two-year-old Kamryn Torres, who passed away in 2021 after a tragic accident.

The event featured painted and designed hoods of cars and raised money for Olivia’s House, a York nonprofit that supports grieving families who have lost loved ones.

Kamryn’s father, Luis, says a car show is a perfect way to pay homage to his son.

“He would have loved it,” Torres said. “He loved cars, and he was a huge Paw Patrol fan, so he loved the colors, like yellow, blue [and] red. He was just an awesome kid overall. [He] put a smile on everybody else’s faces. If your life would be dark, Kam comes around, and the sun comes out.”

Services offered by Olivia’s House include educational services to find resources and referrals for families affected by grief.

“What they have experienced with the loss of their son aligns with our mission so strongly because we certainly support families when they’re going through that tough and challenging time,” said Michelle Fox of Olivia’s House.

The first “Cruise for Kam” raised more than $1,500 last year for Olivia’s House.
