PRESCOTT, AZ (AZFamily) — New details reveal information on a crash that killed a father and two kids and injured several others in Prescott last month.
The crash happened on Saturday, March 22, at Williamson Valley Road near West Levie Lane in Prescott. Authorities say Jesse Foreman was driving a Toyota 4Runner when he crossed the double lines and crashed head-on with a Jeep SUV. Foreman was driving with his three young kids and their mother, and the Jeep had a woman in her 60s and her adult son inside.
Foreman and a child died at the scene. Another child was airlifted to a hospital, where they died, and a third kid was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The mother and victims in the Jeep were flown to a hospital with serious injuries.
On Saturday, investigators with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office announced they believe Foreman was going 70 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone before drifting about three-quarters across double lanes into oncoming traffic.
Authorities say data recovered from the vehicles indicated that the Foreman was going 70.8 mph approximately five seconds before the crash and was estimated to be traveling 60-70 mph at the time of impact. The Jeep was traveling around 52-54 mph during the crash. YCSO says the driver of the Jeep quickly performed a split-second maneuver to minimize the impact, possibly saving more lives.
YCSO is waiting for a toxicology report from the medical examiner’s office but believes impairment is a factor in the crash based on witness statements and evidence recovered from the vehicles.
