ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Gwinnett County police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened at a strip mall early Sunday morning.
At around 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the shopping center off Dogwood Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville. The victim’s friends had called 911, saying he was suffering from a gunshot wound inside a car.
The friends took the victim, who was in his early 20s, to the hospital, where he later died.
At the scene, police said they found shell casings in two locations — in the parking lot in front of Dillons Restaurant & Sports Bar and by a nearby nail salon.
Officers believe everyone involved in the incident was visiting the sports bar before the shooting happened.
A person of interest has been detained. Police are trying to learn what led to the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
