Video games take the stage at the Coronado Theatre

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Rockford University and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) bring an evening of tense competition and grand musical performance for video game lovers in the stateline.

Starting at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, April 5, Rockford University will host a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament in the lobby of the Coronado Theatre. Doors open at 6 p.m.

While the bracket for the tournament is full, the Regents Esports program says there will be stations for any attendee to hop on and play a match with someone (which are commonly referred to as “friendlies” by the Smash Bros. community).

At 7:30 p.m., the Rockford Symphony Orchestra takes the stage for RSO at the Arcade: a show of video game music ranging from beloved classic Nintendo themes to newer titles like Halo.

If the Super Smash Bros. tournament does not have a winner by the time the show starts, it will resume during the show’s intermission.

Adult tickets for RSO at the Arcade range from $33-$77. Tickets for youth 18 and under are $10, while tickets for students 19 and up are $15 with a valid student ID. Tickets may be purchased online at rockfordsymphony.com or by calling the RSO box office at 815.965.0049
