The history of video games is full of groundbreaking titles, but only a few have left such a deep mark that their influence is felt for generations to come. This was reflected in a recent poll organized by BAFTA, where the public voted for the most influential games of all time. And to the surprise of many, GTA did not make the cut. Super Mario Bros. appears in a prominent position but does not reach the top podium. On the other hand, DOOM takes second place, and the most voted title was Shenmue, crowned as the most influential according to the community.

As expected, the results leave room for debate. Titles like Shenmue, which was a turning point in the industry at the beginning of the new millennium, or the legacy of Super Mario Bros. in platform games, and the impact of Half-Life on the development of PC shooters, make a lot of sense.

On the other hand, there are others that make you wonder how they got in, like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, which is still a good game, but you cannot measure the influence of a video game that came out just a few months ago.
