Former President Obama photobombs kids’ portrait

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) – A family in Washington, D.C. was hoping to get some good photos with the Cherry Blossoms in bloom when they were surprised by a famous face.

Portia Moore and her family were supposed to take photos Monday at 1 p.m., but they ended up going earlier than planned.

The last-minute change led to the surprise of a lifetime.

Moore was focused on getting the perfect shot of her two young children when her husband spotted former President Barack Obama casually taking a morning walk along the Tidal Basin.

The couple checked the camera and there he was. Obama was in the photo with their children.

“It means so much to me but to them as they grow older. It builds confidence, like look, I have something to share,” Moore said.

Obama reposted the picture to his Instagram story with the caption, “Preston, Belle, I hope you enjoyed peak bloom. My bad for stepping in the shot.”

Moore hopes the special moment is a reminder that magical things can happen anywhere, anytime.

“To see the beauty in life, and to see not only people but things in nature of every day because it can be crazy what is going around us — let’s appreciate the little things, and this is little but it’s also monumental,” Moore said.

The photo will sit next to their other family portraits.
