Fast food employee accused of stealing customer’s credit card in drive-thru

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A Bryan man is facing charges of credit card abuse after allegedly using a stolen card to make multiple fraudulent transactions at a local convenience store, according to police.

Authorities identified the suspect as Christopher Dewayne Young, Jr., 24, who worked at Layne’s Chicken Fingers on Wellborn Road in College Station. Police say Young took a customer’s credit card and later used it at a Circle K store in Bryan.

The investigation began when the card’s owner, reported to College Station police that she had accidentally left her credit card at Layne’s on February 12. Hours later, she received notifications that the card had been used at a Circle K located at 4609 E. 29th Street in Bryan, with a total of $148.67 in unauthorized purchases.

A Bryan Police Department detective took over the case on February 28 and said surveillance footage from Circle K showed a suspect matching Young’s description making four separate purchases, including cigarettes, cigars, and multiple cash-back transactions.

Further investigation led police to Layne’s, where a manager confirmed Young had been the employee who handled the card in the drive-thru, and video footage from the restaurant also confirmed Young’s identity, police said.
