Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 1, 2025 — The Stage Theater Company will be bringing a popular Disney movie to life during “Disney’s Descendants the Musical” later in April.
Performances will be on Friday, April 18, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Nettleton Performing Arts Center, located at 4205 Paradise St.
“We are bringing the super popular Disney Channel original movies to life,” Stage Theater Company executive director Abby Broadway said. “We have a cast and crew of over 120 people from all over Northeast Arkansas and we’re going to do a meet and greet as well for kiddos.”
The Character Meet and Greet will be held prior to the Saturday evening performance from 5 to 5:30 p.m. only, giving guests a chance to meet their favorite Disney characters and take photos. Tickets go on sale April 2 at 8 a.m. on The Stage Theater Co. website.
Tickets for the performance range from $10 to $20, depending on age and seat location; the Character Meet and Greet tickets are $5 each, and light-up wand souvenirs are also available for $5 each.
Broadway said the show is for audiences of all ages.
“We make sure our shows are appropriate for all. You can bring a 5-year-old, or you can bring a 105-year-old. It’s appropriate for all,” Broadway said. “We focus on making it an outing that the whole family can come and enjoy because family time, sometimes, especially in today’s world, is few and far between. So, we try to create something that is a good environment for all to be able to attend.”
Based in Jonesboro, The Stage Theater Company is a nonprofit organization that began in 2022 to create opportunities for community participation in enriching theatrical experiences.
“The thing about The Stage is that when you audition, whether you’ve done a show before or you’ve never done a show before or you just want to be involved, we cast everyone in our shows. We give everyone an opportunity. So, we have people who’ve never done a show before. We have veteran musical theater people. We have special needs kids and adults in our shows. Everyone is a part of it,” she said. That’s kind of our thing. We give everyone a chance.”
Broadway also noted that the board implemented earlier this year that each cast do a community project. This cast chose to collect nonperishable food to donate to the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.
“We wanted each cast will do a community project, something to give back, whether that’s collecting coats in the winter or we anything to help the community,” Broadway said. “The community helps us because we are a nonprofit. They donate and help us put on these productions, and it’s just a way for us to pay back the community we’re in. This cast has been collecting food items for the food bank. That’s what this cast is doing. It’s just a small way for us to help and give back.”
Although most of the items are collected prior to the actual performances, if anyone wants to bring items to the shows, Broadway said Stage Theater Company will gladly take the donations to the food bank as well.
