DPW interim director explains bill payment process to Finance Committee

WESTFIELD — During its review of DPW bills owed from past fiscal years, the Finance Committee of C hairRalph Figy, Brent Bean and Rick Sullivan questioned DPW interim Director Francis Cain and other members of the department on how bills are processed. “Nothing drives the council crazier than a prior year bill,” Figy said.

Sullivan said he had planned not to support the payments unless City Auditor Vicki Moro said there are sufficient funds. “The auditor said there is money in the current year to pay these bills, so I will support,” he said.
