JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba has finally filed his March 25 campaign finance report.
Lumumba told reporters he had filed his primary pre-report with the Municipal Clerk during his Monday afternoon press conference.
“I know there has been a lot to do about my finance report being delayed. First of all, I’m not the only one. If you look historically, because of the hustle and bustle of the campaign, we’ve often been late,” he said. “But it’s there… It is present for you to look at.”
According to the report, Lumumba raised $11,000 during the first contribution period of 2025 and spent $37,711.20.
By comparison, Democratic challengers John Horhn and Delano Funches each raised more than $100,000, while Marcus Wallace has raised nearly $200,000. Records show Tim Henderson brought in nearly $46,000, while Socrates Garrett had raised $29,000.
However, Wallace, Henderson, Garrett, and Funches each were their respective campaign’s largest contributors. Wallace, for instance, gave his campaign $140,000, while Funchess contributed nearly $94,000 to his.

Chokwe Antar Lumumba | $11,000 | $0 |
Marcus Wallace | $195,000 | $140,000 |
Tim Henderson | $45,634.38 | $37,134.38 |

Socrates Garrett | $29,317.48 | $16,188 (Socrates Garrett Enterprises) |

LaKeyshia Crye | $15,500 | $0 |
John Horhn | $101,350 | $0 |
Lumumba, meanwhile, brought in nearly $114,000 in 2024, and had nearly $70,000 in cash on-hand at the start of the year.
His latest donations came from just four contributors, including Dr. John Calhoun ($3,500), Rod Hill ($3,500), Derrick Carvell Cannon ($3,000), and Larry and Margaret Perry ($1,000).
At least three of those donors are connected to IMS Engineers. According to their LinkedIn profiles, Calhoun is the company’s chief executive officer, while Hill is the president, and Cannon is the vice president of operations and administration.
Perry, meanwhile, is president of New Way Mississippi, a nonprofit that works with former inmates who are suffering from addiction, the organization’s website states.
It is not uncommon for engineering firms to contribute to candidates seeking municipal office. For his part, records indicate Calhoun also donated $500 to Funches.
Lumumba’s report comes nearly a week after it was due. The mayor came under fire earlier this year for failing to file some three years of campaign finance reports in the wake of the Jackson Bribery Scandal.
Those reports were turned in on January 31 and include what are believed to be four $10,000 donations from FBI informants posing as out-of-state developers.
Mayoral candidates who have not filed: Democrats James E. Hopkins, Albert Wilson, David Archie, Kourtney Christopher Page, James Butler, Wilfred Beal, and Ponto Downing.
