See the latest candidates who have filed campaign finance reports in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Less than a day to go before the party primaries in the 2025 municipal elections, and records reveal half of the candidates seeking the city’s top office have still not filed campaign finance reports.

As of Monday morning, only seven candidates have filed: Democrats Marcus Wallace, John Horhn, Tim Henderson, Delano Funches, LaKeisha Crye, and Socrates Garrett, and Republican Kenny Gee.

Notably, Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba had still not filed nearly a week after the March 25 deadline, despite coming under fire just weeks ago for failing to file campaign finance documents for three years.

Other mayoral hopefuls not filing include former Hinds County Supervisor David Archie, James E. Hopkins, Albert Wilson, James Butler, Wilfred Beal, and Ponto Downing. Kourtney Christopher Paige said reports would be filed later this week.

Candidates not running in party primaries were not required to submit during the first round of reporting. Independent mayoral candidates are Zach Servis, Rodney Depriest, Lille Stewart-Robinson, and Kim Wade.

The most recent mayoral hopeful to file is Henderson. As of March 25, the former Air Force lieutenant colonel had raised $45,634.38. The report reveals that most of that has come out of Henderson’s own pocket.

Through March 25, records show he contributed $37,134.38 to his campaign while raising the rest from nine other contributors. The names of those contributors are listed in the report. However, the document does not list addresses or contact information for those individuals.

Of those candidates, Barnes had raised $14,397 through March 25, while Sanders had raised $2,500, Brown-Mitchell had raised $2,350, Bernard had brought in $4,305, Scott had raised $1,912, and Monroe had raised zero.

Ward 2 Councilwoman Tina Clay filed her report Monday afternoon after our initial story was published. She has raised nearly $7,800 in her bid for a full term and has spent a little more than $5,300.

Democratic and Republican party primaries are slated for Tuesday, April 1. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
