Hot on the heels of Monster Hunter Wilds’ record-breaking launch, developer and publisher Capcom has announced that the game has now sold over 10 million units, becoming the fastest game in the company’s history to hit the milestone.
The news comes courtesy of a press release on Capcom’s investor relations website, where the company says the game’s success comes from “the fusion of numerous new elements with Monster Hunter’s appeal.” The previous record holder was the last home console game in the series, Monster Hunter World, which sold 6 million units in its first two weeks on sale, and 8 million units by the three-month mark.

Monster Hunter World went on to sell over 23 million copies, thanks to a strong post-launch update cycle, a big paid expansion, and a PC release. Its strong sales on PC led Capcom to ensure the release of Monster Hunter Wilds on PC on day one, rather than at a later date, which many have attributed to its mammoth success, alongside cross-platform play and a heavier focus on story.
Monster Hunter Wilds is likely to repeat the long tail of sales that World saw, with a number of new events taking place every week and a slew of big updates coming very soon. The first major update, aptly titled Title Update 1, is set to be released later this week, and brings new monsters, new activities, and more for players of the game.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
