Ed Murphey Track Club hosts free clinic for kids

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Ed Murphey Track and Field Clinic took place on Sunday to help teach kids of all levels about the sport.

Students of all ages and experiences had the opportunity to learn and practice with some prominent legends in the sport.

Olympian decathlete Harrison Williams, Olympian shot putter Jessica Ramsey, and NCAA champion pentathlete Michelle Atherley partnered with the Murpey track club for the event.

Speaking on the clinic, Williams said, “It’s important for kids to channel their energy into sport and to stay out of the streets.”

Williams added, ”I think it’s important to kind to get kids off the streets and to the track to kind of learn how to use their energy in a positive way on the track racing. Hopefully we can get some of these kids to go to track and hopefully get them into college and that would be awesome to use track and field and help them send it to the next level.”
