UTSA holds first mobile food distribution to tackle student hunger on Day of Service

SAN ANTONIO – The first on-campus mobile food distribution was held at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) main campus to ensure students do not go hungry.

On Saturday, UTSA celebrated this distribution on its annual Day of Service.

Local philanthropist Harvey E. Najim funded the first mobile distribution and will fund eight food distributions annually on UTSA campuses through 2034. “This is critically important because if you don’t eat a good breakfast, a good lunch, and a good dinner, your mind can’t work to concentrate on your studies. That’s why it’s so important,” say Mr. Najim.

“Harvey Najim is a great champion for students of all ages in our community, and his support for college food security is unprecedented,” said Eric Cooper, President & CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank.

Mr. Najim has also supported the Roadrunner Food Pantry by providing funds to bring more food to students.
