CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Opening Day festivities continue, this time, just for the kids.
Kids Opening Day, presented by Cuties, took place on Saturday morning at Great American Ball Park.
The Reds continued their series against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday afternoon.
But before the game began, players, coaches, and mascots all walked the red carpet to interact with young Reds fans.
The party started at 11:15 a.m. with mascots walking the red carpet, followed by Reds players at noon.
The ball park opened up for a carnival-like experience with circus performers, face painters, music, games, and more in the First Star Fan Zone.
While supplies lasted, anyone 14 and under received a kids’ Reds hat.
Kids Opening Day was created in 2009 as a way for kids to celebrate the beginning of a new Reds season. The festivities are always on the first Saturday game after Opening Day.
The game begins at 4:10 p.m. Saturday.
