Kids, Inc. bans seven after altercation, adds security to events

Kids, Inc., a longstanding organization dedicated to fostering skills, character and confidence in children through sports, has banned seven individuals following an altercation on Saturday.

The organization, which has served the Texas Panhandle since 1945, emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for young athletes and their families.

In collaboration with the Amarillo Independent School District, Kids, Inc. reviewed video footage and spoke with witnesses to identify those involved in what it described as a “wholly unacceptable altercation.” The individuals are now prohibited from attending any Kids, Inc. games, practices, events and locations.

“This decision reflects our zero-tolerance policy for behavior that undermines the values of sportsmanship, respect, and community we strive to uphold,” said Kids, Inc.

The organization stressed that the actions of these individuals do not represent the values or the quality of the volunteers who have contributed to the community’s youth sports programs.

For nearly 80 years, Kids, Inc. has operated without the need for on-site security. However, in light of recent events, the Board of Directors and Executive Team have decided to implement security measures at all future events. This change will lead to increased costs for participants, but Kids, Inc. is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved.

“We deeply regret that this incident occurred and are dedicated to preventing similar situations in the future,” said Kids, Inc.

The organization expressed gratitude for the community’s continued support as it works to enhance its programs and maintain a focus on the development and enjoyment of youth athletes.
