GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — KARE 11 viewers prove over and over that they have big hearts and are invested in the well-being of their neighbors.
Results from the 2025 Food Fight stand as the latest example.
KARE 11’s partnership with Cub Foods and the Salvation Army raised the equivalent of 960,000 meals for Minnesotans who are struggling to put food on the table. Donations include more than $86,000 for local food pantries and in excess of 2,300 pounds of non-perishable food items.
The Food Fight is a fun event that pits our anchors against each other in a light-hearted competition that benefits the community. Team Julie (Nelson) captured the cash portion of the drive by collecting $32,429, with Team Bel (Jensen) raising $28,958 and Team Reggie $25,028.
In total, $86,415 was raised over the month-long food drive.
Generous viewers, community members and corporations also collected non-perishable food items, with many dropping by KARE 11 Studios in Golden Valley on Wednesday to pack a truck. In total, more than 2,300 pounds of food were collected.
For the second year in a row, Team Reggie led this part of the competition with 1,080 pounds donated.
Sponsors say the donations equate to 960,000 meals that will be distributed to Minnesota families via local Salvation Army food pantries.
