13th annual STWYCF Food Drive scheduled in Jonesboro

Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — March 26, 2025 — The 13th annual Show Them Where You Come From (STWYCF) Food Drive has been scheduled in April.

The event is hosted by Brenda’s Table and will take place Sunday, April 6, from 1-5 p.m. at the Jonesboro Elks Lodge, 2113 W. Washington Ave., and will have a $20 entry fee. Alternatively, people can provide 20 nonperishable food items, which will go to stock the organization’s pantry with staple food for the rest of the year.

“It is a family-friendly event,” said Andrea-Dionne Kain, president of Brenda’s Table. “There’s a little Bag-O competition that’s going to be for all ages this year and a couple of photo-op picture walls set up. It’s a good time for a good cause.”

The food drive will feature live music by Inside Marsellus Wallace and a silent auction, which takes place from 1-4 p.m. There will also be snacks, games, giveaways, drawings, and more.

Almost all items in the auction come from local businesses and people, such as the Craighead County/Jonesboro Public Library and Arkansas Medicine. There will also be gift cards and other items from Jonesboro restaurants such as Brickhouse Grill, the Recovery Room and the Yard.

Winners will be contacted between 4 to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers will be collecting money and releasing items from 4:30 to 6 p.m., however, other pick-up arrangements can be made.

“Usually, we go ahead and get everything ready while the event is still going on, and we’ll make an announcement in the last hour of the event so if you’re at the event, you can pay and take your item with you. Then, if you’re not still there, we will call you. Usually, we hang out till about 6 o’clock, so if you want to come back and pick up your items, you can that day,” Kain said.

Brenda’s Table is a food and nutrition assistance program. People of any income level are eligible for the program, since Kain said an emergency can affect anyone at any time.

“If you have an emergency or an unplanned event, we step in and help you with the food temporarily,” Kain said. “So, if you are in a car accident and break your leg and can’t work for two weeks and don’t get a paycheck for two weeks, what we would do is we would step in and feed your family for that short, temporary time that you are not able to work. We do a lot when there are fires or when tornadoes come through.”
