Unsanctioned Car Show Shootout Erupts, Killing Three
A fight at what authorities call an unsanctioned car show in Las Cruces, New Mexico ended in a hail of gunfire, killing three and injuring 15 others. Footage taken by people at the gathering shows the chaos which unfolded as those shots rang out and innocent bystanders fled.
Three crashes happen rapidly in shocking dashcam video.
After a manhunt, police arrested four suspects ages 20, 17, 17, and 15. In other words, this sounds like kids with guns going to a car show that wasn’t officially approved by the city specifically to feud with other kids with guns. We’re going to go out on a limb here and say it’s likely these kids are in gangs, because of course.

Sadly, we’re also willing to bet a lot of the people who were at the car show on the night of March 21. We don’t have details about the nature of the car show, other than it was held at a park where criminal activity is common.
Parents hopefully are teaching their children that going to any gathering in a sketchy area is a bad idea. If you’ve been to enough car shows, you’re aware some just don’t have a good feeling to them. The crowd is rough, the focus isn’t so much on the enjoyment of the cars, and it’s just not a great place to be.
It’s possible the “car show” was more of a street takeover or sideshow event where vandalism and hooligan behavior reign supreme. Sadly, shootings and other spates of violence are all too common at takeovers.
But kids seem drawn to these types of events like a moth to the flame. Naturally, everyone is pointing fingers at the police in this situation, but we think the responsibility extends much further. Parents, city leaders, and the kids themselves all might have made poor decisions leading up to the shooting.
Now three kids ages 19, 18, and 16 are dead and for what?
