The Best Muslim-Owned Beauty and Fashion Brands to Support This Eid

From opulent fragrances to luxurious modest clothing, it should come as no surprise that Muslim-owned beauty and fashion brands are known for their best-in-class artistry and craftsmanship, deeming them all the more worthy of a spotlight, particularly in the run up to Eid Al-Fitr.

As a Muslim journalist and immigrant, I always take pride in supporting Muslim-owned brands from afar. While it’s true that inclusion is an area that will never cease the need to improve, I’m glad to have witnessed a fair share of progress within the beauty and fashion industries. Today’s Muslim-owned brands not only share the space with their Western competitors but some have moved well past the indie stage and are now heavily dominating the global scene.

Some of my most-loved names in the game also excel at attracting people of all backgrounds, regardless of whether they are Muslim in the first place. They manage to nail the balance between celebrating culture while still feeling approachable enough to try for the first time: be it an eyeshadow palette that adheres to all skin tones, a line-up of oud-y fragrances that pleases even the most novice of oud perfume users or a jewellery brand that offers a twist on a timeless classic. Below, we’ve put together an edit of the very best Muslim-owned beauty and fashion brands for your perusal.

Huda Beauty

Let’s face it: are you truly a makeup lover if you don’t own at least one Huda Beauty eyeshadow palette? Having been around for more than a decade, this beauty brand still dominates the makeup space with its blurring heroes like the iconic Easy Bake setting powder and the versatile complexion products such as its liquid blush. Long story short, Huda Kattan never fails to impress.

Kayali

Owned by Mona Kattan, Kayali redefined the art of layering on a global landscape, drawing inspiration from Mona’s Middle Eastern heritage. Having recently parted ways with Huda Beauty, Kayali is home to dozens of powerhouse fragrances, including a whole line-up dedicated to oud. It’s also introduced many Western beauty lovers to Bakhoor, an Arabic incense that’s used to maximise the fragrance.

Amouage

In the world of niche luxury perfumes, Amouage is, by far, one of the best fragrance houses in the industry, and with good reason. Founded in 1983 by the Albusaidi family in Oman, Amouage captures the spirit of Arabian art of perfumery at its core, offering unique and sophisticated blends that are known and loved all around the world. The brand’s also responsible for my most complimented scent to date – Guidance 46, which also scores very highly in terms of longevity.

Leem

Offering a modern spin on modest clothing, Leem is a Saudi fashion brand that needs no introduction. Ever since its launch in 2018, it’s captured the attention of global retailers, delivering unique designs on kaftans, abayas, dresses and outerwear. From innovative patterns to fun colours and fabrics, you’ll find no shortage of options that are both timeless and elegant.

Founded by Nora Chamaa and Yaser Albataineh, the brand focuses on delivering designs and materials that stand the test of time.

Best known for its mosaic and innovative designs that are inspired by the founder’s passion for travel, the brand prides itself for its top-tier craftsmanship and luxurious feel.
