Children in grades K through 8 have the opportunity to embark on a unique learning adventure this summer at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. The aquarium is offering week-long camps filled with hands-on activities, with registration opening next Tuesday, April 1.
The camps, which cost approximately $280 for non-aquarium members, offer discounts for members. Kayla Hoopes, the Youth Experiences Coordinator at the aquarium, highlighted some of the engaging activities available to campers.
“So they get to do dissections. They get to go out into the marsh and look for critters. They get to go behind the scenes and see what it’s like to be an aquarist, so they actually help feed some of our animals depending on the theme of the day… and then we get a lot of feedback from them saying that this was the best week they ever had,” said Hoopes.
In addition to the camps, the aquarium is offering 20 scholarships to cover all costs. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is this Friday at 5 p.m.
