Westlake police looking for 4 kids after TikTok trend damages multiple homes

WESTLAKE, Ohio (WOIO) – Police are looking for four teens captured on security cameras slamming their bodies into garage doors as part of a TikTok trend.

Eric Kaiser caught the group with his security cameras and handed it over to police.

Police believe the group was trying to do the social media trend called ‘door diving’.

“I don’t know,” said Kaiser. “It sounds pretty bone headed to me”.

Kaiser’s garage was knocked off its tracks and left with deep dents and a few scratches.

He called in a professional on Monday to assess the damage.

“It’s pretty obvious it’s vandalism,” said Kaiser. “So I think my insurance will cover, we’ll see” .

Dan Caputo with Alert Door and Operator told 19 News he’s seen this trend in other neighborhoods.

“Some of them, there’s just a couple of dents and dings here and there and a customer can live with it,” said Caputo. “But when it come to replacement door it can get a little pricey”.

Caputo told 19 News Kaiser could be looking at a bill around $4,000.

According to Westlake police, four other people had their garages damaged over the weekend.

The first happened around 1 a.m. in Westlake on Stone Court.

Some of the other incidents happened on Fitzroy Street and Cinnamon Way.

Police tell 19 News they contacted Westlake High School and do have potential leads on who these four teens are.

The kids could be facing charges for criminal damage or endangering.

“What’s the point,” asked Kaiser. “Where’s the satisfaction in that?”

If you have any information about who these teens might be, contact Westlake police.
