This San Francisco Food Truck All-Star Is Opening a Permanent Location

One of the Bay Area’s favorite food trucks just got green-lit for a permanent restaurant space. Miguel Escobedo of Al Pastor Papi will open the doors to Al Pastor Papi Mexican Grill in a former Chipotle space in downtown San Francisco. The opening is set for this summer. Per restaurant newsletter California Eating, Escobedo will open the location through San Francisco’s Vacant to Vibrant program. There are scant details so far, including the specific address.

Escobedo told California Eating he’ll begin with to-go lunch only, then expand into weekend brunches with DJ sets. That’s fitting since Escobedo is known not just for outstanding pastor and inventive dishes — and for co-founding big hitter restaurant Papalote — but for his longstanding music career in the Bay. This opening comes after Escobedo closed the Al Pastor Papi food trailer in January 2025.

Vermin infestation closes Glen Park bakery

In much worse news, Destination Bakery was temporarily closed by the the San Francisco Health Department. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, inspectors visited the hotspot on March 10 and again on March 21. On both visits, live rodents were noted among other health code violations including gnaw marks on flour bags. The business will remain closed until the issues have been addressed. The Chronicle noted this is not the first time rat problems have given Glen Park businesses cause for concern; a grocery store fended off rodents in 2022 after a local spread bird seed to attract the critters.

A Divisadero Street mainstay says goodbye

Ragazza, the almost 15-year-old pizza and Italian restaurant, will close for good on Monday, March 31. Tablehopper had the news. Co-owners Sharon Ardiana and Greg Hinds told the outlet that their reasons for closing are similar to those of other businesses: diners eating out less, rising costs, a lease renewal on the horizon, and a looming economic war thanks to the Trump Administration’s tariffs.

Mountain View tapas bar to shutter
