The Gateway Family YMCA is inviting families in Union County to kick off a safe, healthy and fun summer at their annual Healthy Kids Day event on Saturday, April 26.
The free community event will take place at YMCA branches in Elizabeth (135 Madison Ave.), Rahway (1564 Irving St.) and Union (201 Tucker Ave. and 1000 Galloping Hill), offering a variety of family-friendly activities aimed at promoting healthy habits and lifestyles.
Healthy Kids Day will feature activities such as family yoga, swimming, basketball, and a summer day camp parent information session from noon to 2 p.m. The event is open to the community, with free registration available at www.tgfymca.org/events.
“It is very important for kids to stay active over the summer, both physically and mentally,” said Melynda A. Disla, president and CEO of The Gateway Family YMCA. “At the Y, we believe in providing resources for families to create healthy habits, no matter the time of year. Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community-wide event that encourages families to take advantage of all the great summer activities the Y has to offer.”
In addition to the Healthy Kids Day event, YMCA programs such as child care, before and after school care, swimming lessons, and youth sports will be celebrating Healthy Kids Day activities with youth and families throughout the week.
The Gateway Family YMCA is also offering a one-day membership sale in honor of Healthy Kids Day on April 26, with a special code “HKD” available at www.tgfymca.org/join-the-Y.
As a nonprofit organization “dedicated to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility,” The Gateway Family YMCA aims to “impact the community by providing quality services for all.”
